World of Warcraft: Midnight has introduced a single-button assistant that cycles through abilities, but its effectiveness for healers has long been questioned. A recent build by Dvalin Gaming demonstrates how a holy paladin can sustain an entire dungeon group using only one key press, thanks to Lightsmith hero talents and passive healing triggers.
Midnight’s single-button system is designed primarily for damage-dealers and tanks, but Dvalin’s approach flips that narrative. By stacking Lightsmith talents—each granting passive healing effects—the paladin’s attacks automatically distribute shields and heals without requiring manual execution. This build avoids traditional healing cooldowns in favor of frequent, small-scale healing bursts.
Key to the strategy is Judgement, which normally deals damage but here also triggers a barrier and Consecration ground effect that periodically heals allies. Additional abilities tied to Holy Power further amplify this passive framework. The result is a dungeon-viable setup that minimizes micromanagement while maintaining strong group survival.
While the build excels in normal dungeons, its limitations become apparent in more demanding content like mythic+ raids. Dvalin suggests supplementing single-button inputs with occasional AoE heals, such as Light of Dawn, to close performance gaps without sacrificing accessibility.
The innovation raises questions about whether similar builds could be optimized for higher-tier healing while retaining the single-button constraint. Midnight’s launch is still recent, leaving room for further experimentation and refinement in how players approach class roles.
