Thermalright’s latest innovation, the Frost Tower 140, redefines what’s possible in dual fin-stack cooling. This premium cooler doesn’t just compete with 240 mm all-in-one liquid coolers (AIOs) in performance—it does so while occupying less space and reducing cable clutter. Designed for enthusiasts who demand both power and precision, the Frost Tower 140 balances thermal efficiency with a streamlined aesthetic, making it a strong contender in the high-end cooling market.
The cooler’s most striking feature is its dual fin-stack design, which Thermalright claims matches or surpasses the cooling capacity of larger AIOs. At 140 mm x 146 mm x 158 mm (including fans), it’s one of the largest in its category but avoids the bulkiness that often comes with such performance. This makes it an attractive option for builds where space is limited, yet cooling demands are high.
Under the hood, the Frost Tower 140 uses seven 6 mm-thick heat pipes made from copper, which transfer heat away from the CPU via indirect contact through a C1100 copper base. The design prioritizes thermal conductivity while minimizing weight and footprint. Cooling is further enhanced by two high-performance fans: a 140 mm TL-N14DW-R7 and a 120 mm TL-N12W-R9, arranged in a push-pull configuration to optimize airflow.
The 120 mm fan acts as the intake (push) component, while the 140 mm fan serves as the pull element between the fin stacks. Both fans are built for durability and efficiency, featuring double ball-bearings, liquid crystal polymer (LCP) impellers, and noise-dampening rings. The 120 mm model maxes out at 2,400 RPM, delivering up to 83.35 CFM of airflow with a static pressure of 2.95 mm H₂O, while the 140 mm fan reaches 1,850 RPM and pushes 120 CFM at 2.4 mm H₂O. At peak speeds, noise levels are kept relatively low, with the 120 mm model emitting 33.3 dBA and the 140 mm model at 36.25 dBA.
The Frost Tower 140 isn’t just about raw performance—it also offers flexibility in installation. It supports a broad range of CPU sockets, including AM5, AM4, LGA1851, LGA1700, and LGA1200/115x, making it a versatile choice for both current and upcoming platforms. The cooler comes with Thermalright’s SS2 all-metal mounting system, which ensures stability and minimizes vibration during operation.
For users who prioritize aesthetics alongside performance, the Frost Tower 140 is available in three distinct trims: an all-black version (with black fins and heat pipes), a white variant (white fins and heat pipes), and a natural color option featuring chrome fins and nickel-plated copper heat pipes.
