Industry China’s Montage Technology Starts Sampling 9200 MT/s DDR5 Clock-Drivers For RDIMM Memory, Powering Next-Gen Datacenters Hassan Mujtaba • at EDT Add on Google Montage Technology has introduced its fastest Clock-Driver for DDR5 RDIMM memory, offering up to 9200 MT/s speeds. More Players Enter The High-Speed RDIMM Memory Segment As Montage Technology Unveils DDR5 9200 MT/s RCD Last year, Montage Technology launched its high-end DDR5 clock driver for client platforms, offering up to 9200 MT/s speeds for CKD modules. Today, the company is offering its latest DDR5 clock driver with the same speeds but aimed at RDIMM modules. Related Story V-Color Pushes DDR5 Capacity to 2 TB With New MRDIMM Kits, While Its OLED Memory Gets Low-Profile EXPO ULL RedesignThe massive surge in Agentic AI has witnessed a spike in demand for data-center-aimed memory modules such as RDIMMs. These are the go-to choice these days, and make for a cost-effective approach versus an MRDIMM, which offers much higher densities, but at much higher prices too. The demand for memory bandwidth continues to rise due to cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and various memory-intensive workloads, and the next-generation DDR5 RDIMM is a key component in meeting this demand. Leveraging our continued expertise in memory interface chips, our RCD06 chip has successfully completed engineering sample development and has been successfully sampled to major memory customers worldwide. We are working closely with leading memory manufacturers, CPU suppliers, and end-users to accelerate the industrialization of the latest DDR5 generation memory technology. Montage Technology Shanghai-based Montage Technology bringing out its own RDIMM solution to the market means that RDIMM makers now have more choice to select the registered clock driver for their solutions. The RCD06 chip is said to support data transfer speeds of up to 9200 MT/s, a 15% improvement over the previous generation. and employs a dual-channel architecture with two sub-channels sharing clock logic but operating independently. This allows for separate parity checks without interference. Montage also integrates a continuous-time linear equalization (CTLC) and a low-jitter phase-locked loop (PLL) that help improve signal integrity while ensuring the accuracy and stability of the clock distribution. As of right now, the company is sampling its latest DDR5 RDIMM Clock-Driver to various domestic partners & will be offering full compatibility with next-gen data center platforms. The company also states that it will continue to work with its supply chain partners to continuously accelerate the large-scale application of DDR5 memory technologies. Chinese firms have already doubled down on accelerating the DDR5 and DRAM segment in general. Firms such as CXMT are already deploying up to 8000 MT/s DDR5 modules, and with 9200 MT/s available for domestic consumption through Montage, we can see even faster kits being validated for client and server segments. At the same time, CXMT is focusing more on the consumer segment as offshore firms focus on the large AI segment.
