NCSOFT Pushes Horizon Steel Frontiers to 1H 2027 After Hinting at a 2026 Launch, but Cinder City Holds Its Date Alessio Palumbo • at EDT Add on Google NCSOFT's new Investor Relations presentation reveals that the MMORPG Horizon Steel Frontiers, based on the popular Guerrilla Games and Sony post-apocalyptic IP, will launch in the first half of 2027. The presentation does not clarify whether this is a Korean-first debut or a global launch, though we'd lean on the latter given the franchise's global appeal. The game was first rumored all the way back in 2022, but it was only in November 2025 that all parties involved in the project revealed it as a full-fledged MMORPG targeting PC and mobile. We quickly realized that Horizon Steel Frontiers was relatively far along in development when NCSOFT said the reception had been great and that the game could launch at some point in 2026. Clearly, there has been a small delay since then, but at least we have a launch window now. They also opened up to the possibility of bringing the game to the PlayStation 5 console, although of course, the final word on that will be Sony's. The game takes place in a region called the Deadlands, an expansive open world inspired by the landscapes of Arizona and New Mexico. It is set during the same period as Aloy's story in the north, meaning it runs around the same time as the events in Horizon Forbidden West. Whether Aloy or other main series characters appear has not yet been confirmed. We do, however, know that the game will feature towns, guilds, and even raids, and that NCSOFT is working closely with IP creator Guerrilla to ensure its authenticity. The NCSOFT roadmap also confirms that the MMO shooter Cinder City, the 3v3 survival shooter Time Takers, and the anime action RPG LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS will launch in the second half of 2026, alongside the global release of AION 2. Going beyond 2027, the publisher lists a newly announced "subculture RPG" titled Astrae Oratio, the cyberpunk shooter DEFECT, and an FPS project codenamed Bonfire. NCSOFT subsidiary ArenaNet is also teasing some sort of Guild Wars announcement at Summer Game Fest, but there's no trace of it here, unless it turns out to be one of the two spin-off games listed for a release this year.
